The pitch-drop experiment

The pitch-drop experiment is the world’s longest continuously running experiment; a drop of tar pitch forms every 69 years. To put that in perspective, Haley’s Comet passes by the Earth every 76 years… a comet can move close to a billion miles in the time that this fluid takes to travel roughly 5 mm… yup. A true beauty. Recently, the falling of a drop has been captured on film, the video is attached:
